Predator Calls
Acoustic Methods – Predator Calls
Predator cries – combined with the distress calls of the species to be driven away – is a time-tested method of bird control.
Important characteristics of predator
call systems:
- Birds are first made fearful by the calls of their natural predators; when hearing distress calls of their own kind, they are convinced that they are in immediate danger and must escape.
- Individual calls are stored by the
device and played at irregular intervals and in various tone sequences
over a high frequency speaker. - All
devices can store several calls that can be freely programmed. The
operator can determine the tones on-site and select various programs. An optional call sequence randomizer further reduces the risk of habituation. - Predator/distress call systems are complex networks, requiring professional setup and installation.
- Built-in light meters assure that the system shuts off after sunset, and turns on at sunrise.
- Predator cry systems are suitable for low to
medium populations
